Icon Sport have stripped "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler of the Middleweight belt he won from Frank Trigg back in 2007, a titlehe has only defended once by defeating Murilo "Ninja" Rua in September, his only fight as champ before being plagued with health problems. T.Jay Thompson Icon Sport President stated that Lawler had been stripped of the title for "failing to adequately defend." and added “Last year was a rough year. For various illnesses and injuries Robbie Lawler pulled out of three Icon events in 2007....It’s not fair. It’s not fair to Icon Sport. Not fair to Kala Kolohe Hose who has been waiting nearly a year for his title shot. And, most importantly, it’s not fair to our fans.” Lawler's response to Icon Sport's actions was"I'm Disappointed... But I understand", it is not known when Lawler will compete next but it is possible that this may be on 15th March at a future Icon Sport Event, the event will also feature a title shot for Kala Kolohe Hose but the challenger for the now vacant title is still to be confirmed.
