It is reported that M-1 has signed former Pride heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, Emelianenko was up until now MMA's most sought after free agent, but it seems that he has opted for a road less travelled and not signed with the UFC, which up until the end of last month UFC President Dana White was adamant that he would do. Fedor began negotiations with the UFC earlier in the year but broke down when Dana White would not make concessions for Emelianenko to participant in Sambo back home , a sport in which he is an ambassador, and a decision which has seen the UFC pass up one of the best fighters in the sport. M-1 has recently been acquired by an as yet undisclosed US company, an official announcement is expected, it is believed that Fedor will make his M-1 debut in the new year.
