With 44 professional fights to his credit, 30-year-old Yves Edwards is well known to most mixed martial arts fans. The Bahamas-born Texan has been ranked among the world’s top lightweights since the turn of the century.
Edwards’ impressive record (31-12-1) has suffered a few blemishes of late, however, with a disappointing TKO loss (doctor stoppage) to Joe Stevenson in July 2006, followed by a defeat to Mike Brown, who won a unanimous decision in Bodog Fight: St. Petersburg.
Looking to get back to his winning ways, Edwards takes on Florida’s Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal (10-2) on an all new episode of Bodog Fight: New Jersey this Tuesday, August 28 at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION television and in Canada on The Fight Network. If you have seen Michael Moore's scathing 1989 documentary Roger & Me, the environment in which Indiana's David Love grew up will seem familiar.
Before gaining notoriety as a mixed martial arts athlete, Love spent the early 1980's roaming the bleak streets of Marion, Indiana. Much like the Flint, Michigan depicted in Moore's film, Marion's working class had been devastated by corporate America's mass exodus south of the border.
With a depressed economy, no education and no real job prospects, burglary and theft became the only means of survival for the town's poorest inhabitants. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 144 |

His name suggests he should be using his powerful legs to direct soccer balls past helpless goalkeepers, but Jose "Pele" Landi prefers to use them to punish his opponents in the ring.
Raised in Brazil, Landi eschewed his country's national sport (despite being quite good - hence his nickname), instead choosing a career in mixed martial arts. Soccer's loss was certainly MMA's gain. Be first to comment this article | Quote this article on your site | Views: 165 |

Philadelphia has long been a fertile breeding ground for some of the world's best fighters, both real and fictional - boxers like "Smokin" Joe Frazier and Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins, not to mention Sly Stallone's Rocky Balboa. These days, the "City of Brotherly Love" is home to some of America's toughest mixed martial arts fighters, like Eddie Alvarez. With movie-star looks and lightning fast hooks, the 23-year-old product of Philadelphia's Fight Factory is one of the most marketable young fighters on the MMA scene. There's always a healthy degree of skepticism when it comes to cross-over athletes. A few have enjoyed success, like Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders and Dennis Rodman (or was he a cross-dressing success?), but remember when Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball? Yikes.

In response to recent comments made by Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White, Bodog Fight founder Calvin Ayre is pleased to extend a once-in-a-lifetime offer to his mixed martial arts rival. White's unfortunate public diatribe included slanderous comments about the Canadian billionaire, referring to the online gaming mogul as a "criminal". The notoriously bald UFC promoter goes on to liken Mr. Ayre to a Richard Pryor character, stating "he's like that guy in Brewster's Millions who is trying to spend all his money in 48 hours."
